Nice, the questions make me think, and the links help too. I especially am interested in knowing more about character development. I've recently been reading this trilogy called the Birthmarked trilogy, and they're written so well. The author, Caragh O'Brien, really fascinates me with the way she shows her characters' thoughts. It's brilliant, and I'm hoping I can write something like that one day :D

ReplyDeleteYou don't see too much of it these days. Character progression is another important factor that, if one gets it right, could make for a powerful story.
I remember seeing this in the anime Gantz; it was well written in this way. The main character (our unwilling protagonist) starts off as one thing: rather unlikable, not very brave and nothing like a hero. But by the time you're about 4 or 5 episodes in, he's been molded into an entirely different character, by a series of unfortunate events, and I dare say becomes more likable. He trades his vices for virtues in a way that's actually believable!
